11/11/11 in my life...

11/11/11...such a beautiful date. It also marked the last day I'm in Anaesthesiology Department, HSM. Finally, my request to transfer to Outpatient Department since a couple of months ago has been approved. What do I feel? Happy...relieved...sad to leave my wonderful colleagues for the past 2 years+....a bit scared also.....a mixed feelings I felt..

That day also was my last day to induce anaesthesia to patients....intubation and giving spinal anaesthesia. I'm very happy to work in this department as I acquired skills that not many people can do..it's very interesting... Many would think it's a blissful to be in anaesth. After patient is asleep, many thinks we just sit, chit chat, playing games on handphone, or reading books....but actually, there's more to it. We're the one who have to make sure the patients's vital signs are stable throughout the operation, the muscles are relaxed so that the surgeon can do their job and of course, patient felt no pain intra-op or post-operatively. It's OK in stable cases, but in unstable cases like intraabdominal injury with massive bleeding, sepsis patients, patients with multiple comorbids...we're the one that are fidgeting in our seat and have palpitations.

I love the coolness and the adrenaline rush in this field...it's different than in other departments...because you are managing a person's vital organ..for example you have to intubate or ventilate patients succesfully, if you fail in more than 3 minutes, hypoxia can happen and your patient can have brain death...scary, huh?

I've made the decision to change to OPD because of family factor. My husband as a pharmacist in the military frequently has to go outstation..usually it's very sudden and you don't have time to tell the babysitter beforehand that your daughter has to sleep over at the babysitter house especially if it happens to be on the day you are oncall. I pity my small daughter. It's tiring for me to be left alone often, but I have to bear it since he's my husband :) Moreover, I don't have to do oncall anymore and can surely spend more time with my family on weekends and public holidays...yippiee!! : )

This Monday I'll start my new chapter in Out Patient Department. I'll have to do some readings since I can hardly remember antihypertensive drugs, diabetes mellitus drugs...bla...bla..bla... I hope I 'll be happy in my new department...looking forward to entertain variety of patients attitude in OPD :P Wish me luck!!!

Shopping! JUSCO sale!

One of my fave things to do is...shopping! During the last Raya Haji holiday, I still had time to shop at Jusco Ipoh. Got amazing sale now till 13th November!

You have to take this book of discount coupons from the service counter first. There are lots of discounts up to 70% on selected items..i was tempted to buy lots of stuffs but no, I have to control my shopping impulse or else I'll be broke! hehe..

These are my 2 hours of shopping spree....

My favourite skincare products, SK II, jeans and slacks..as I'm slimmer now and all my current jeans are too loose for me! : ) PLUS a pair of Crocodile sandals..

I bought the 3 products on your left hand side...and I got the 2 products on your right hand side for free!

These are what in the box that I got for free....

PLUS this beautiful red bag is free as well... :)

Really worth it, right girls? Although many would say SK II is expensive but for me SK II really works for me. My skin is brighter and its texture is smooth...yes, I still get pimples sometimes, but my overall skin is better than before...Besides, I only buy them once a year..hehe..yeah, I'm not very compliance in putting all the types of cream/emulsion on my face : p

A sick weekend...

Had a depressing weekend...I'm sick! My plan to go shopping at Jusco, Ipoh is ruined. Don't know what I ate wrong, but since yesterday, I experienced indigestion, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea...what is worse, I cannot eat at all...don't have the appetite. Every time I eat, I vomit back :( And I don't have the energy, just lying on bed and sleep. Until at one time yesterday evening, I felt like I had a hypoglycaemic attack....very dizzy, felt sweaty, felt like fainting....so I quickly ate two biscuits and drank ORS. Very stubborn of me, don't want to seek medical attention..haha....I just treat myself with Metoclopramide, MMT and Panadol....

Fortunately, felt better today...I can eat a little bit...just rice porridge la...still cannot tolerate to eat solid food. However, I still have diarrhea....watery diarrhea..luckily the vomiting stop already...

Thank you to my husband, who take care of our daughter, cleaning the dishes, cleaning the house, and cook porridge for me...a really wonderful husband I have... :) hopefully my sickness will be better...as tomorrow I'm working!

Relaxing day at work

Today feels like working on a weekend. There's no elective list, only got one emergency LSCS (lower segment caesarian section) in the morning and one orthopaedic case in the evening. All of us, 8 anaesth MO are jobless today...hihi. Just eating, chit chatting, and even sleeping..then eat again :) no,no this is not the usual scene in our operation theatre (OT). For the past couple of days, have had many laparotomies...

Don't know if I go to outpatient department later I can still get this kind of luxury also or not. But I do know for sure, I'm gonna miss my colleagues and bosses very very much...not forgetting the OT and ICU staffs as well : )

Baker King, Kim Tak Goo

I love Korean dramas..hehe. I've just finished watching 30 episodes of Baker King, Kim Tak Goo. I know, this story was aired long time ago, and I just watched it now....you know, I am a busy woman..hihi.

Little introduction first :
KBS broadcasted the Baker King from June 2010 to September 2010 in South Korea and it was extremely popular there, receiving a record viewer rating of 50.8%. The series also received presidential honors in the 2010 Republic of Korea Content Award ceremony for its contribution in the overseas popularity of Korean pop culture. The English version was renamed Bread, Love and Dreams and was broadcast on KBS World.

Tak Gu and Syin Yu Khyung on a date in the Baker King
It tells the story of how determined a young baker over comes many trials towards achieving his goal of becoming the best baker in Korea. This story takes place in 1970's to 1990's, starting after his conception and finishing when he reaches his mid 20's.

Tak Gu ended up with Mi Sun (really cute couple)
Ma Jun weds Syin Yu Khyung (Eugene)

Synopsis
Kim Tak Goo is the eldest son of Goo Il Jong, the chairman of Geosung Foods Enterprise ( a legend in baking industry), and Kim Mi Sun, his mistress. Although he is an extremely talented baker and is destined to succeed his father as president, Goo Il Jong's family plotted to rob him of his inheritance because he is the son of Il Jong's mistress. Tak Goo's determination to become number one in baking industry drives him to build his career from scratch despite many hard trials he faces.

It is an emotional roller coaster ride of a series that tells a story of love, anger, revenge, hope and dreams in the best way possible. It is definitely different from your typical soap opera. It is full of twists and turns yet maintains its interesting story. What I love about the show is that it is full of moral values that would inspire viewers in many ways. Never quit on your dreams and achieve it the right way. The Baker King truly moves my heart and I have been eagerly watching each coming episodes to see what happens next : )
