Searching for Gold

During lunch break on Friday, my colleagues and I went to Alamanda. Guess what? Habib store was packed with people...you couldn't even find a spot at the display counter. No wonder la, gold price is on the low side now....after discount, the price is RM152/g at Habib. At S.Wan Jewels, the gold price is even lower...RM 150/g. I was not aware of this jewellery store at Alamanda before this. I was sooo tempted to buy some gold as I noticed S.Wan has many adorable designs, but there were so many women eagerly trying the jewelleries there.Huhu. Definitely have to go gold hunting with my husband and buy some while the price is low...Maybe my dear hubby would like to buy me a present? :P

Collecting gold has become my new interest recently. Not necessarily as accessories, but gold also can be a form of investment..why I say this?? Gold is inflation proof. Gold price keeps changing, but eventually it will keep on increasing. No matter how low it comes down, it will definitely increase back if not soon, later in the long run.

Which type of gold to buy??? Depends on what is your purpose of buying it and your money of course...there are 916 gold and 999 gold..

916 Gold
1. This gold is usually used to make all the beautiful jewelleries, dinar
2. Cheaper than 999 gold
3. Not very good for investment
4. Accepted at ar-Rahnu, unlike gold bar (gold bar not accepted for the time being)

999 Gold
1. Comes in the form of gold bar mostly, and gold coin
2. Also available as jewelleries but not suitable for everyday wear as 999 gold is soft and bend quite easily
2. More expensive than 916 gold
3. Good for investment, though
4. Also accepted at ar-Rahnu, but not in gold bar form for the time being

Gold Bar
1. Made from 999 gold.
2. In the form of bar with various weights eg 10g, 20g, 50g
3. Good for investment
4. There are many gold company eg Public Gold, banks and gold shop sell gold bar..you must choose wisely and consider all aspects (its spread of price, terms when the price will be deducted, etc....) for maximum profit...too long to tell you here.hehe..
You can view how Public Gold gold bar looks like here

Gold Coin
1. Purity of 999 gold
2. Various weights available and can be bought at gold company or Bank Negara

Dinar
1. Purity is of 916 gold
2. Suitable for investment and as a gift
3. Can also be used to buy something eg in Kelantan
4. Public Gold dinar click here

Jewelleries
1. Made from 916 gold mostly
2. Comes in many forms...necklace,bracelet,pendant,ear ring,bangle...
3. Loved by women including me, hehehe..
4. Not very good for investment as you pay extra for the workmanship ('upah') cost, thus if you want to make profit from selling them, you have to sell them when the gold price is higher than when you bought the gold
5. You'll also have to take into consideration that any gold shop or banks or ar-rahnu will buy jewellery at a price after they deduct 25%-30%
6. Survey the price, because every shops sell their gold at different price. If you notice, the gold price/gram and the workmanship cost is cheaper at small and not branded jewellery shop, compared to at 'branded' jewellery shop like Habib, Poh Kong, Tomei.....

So, there you go a little bit about gold. There are many more about gold and this is just my summary based on my little knowledge :) Each type of gold you choose to buy has its own pros and cons...therefore, think hard and choose wisely before you buy. To me, it's better to buy all different types of gold as I mention above, so you can have a variety and get profit in both short and long term :)

My birth story

3 months of my maternity leave has passed. Now only I'm writing back in my blog..hehe. Kesian blog daku ni dah berabuk ;p Alhamdulillah..my 2nd princess was born on 16th January 2013 at 8.17 pm at Hospital Putrajaya (full paying patient), normal delivery by Dr.Hamidah.

This time my labour journey started with leaking liquour on 15th January 2013 at 6.30 am. I was getting Aliya's stuff ready for kindergarten at that time when I felt some water dribbling down my legs...I was like, Oopss! Did my water breaks? Quickly, I checked in the bathroom and true enough, I saw clear liquour and the more I walk, the more it comes out...quite unpleasant, as you cannot control it..huhu. Luckily my husband was still at home, he called his boss to take emergency leave that day.

I felt no contraction yet. After Aliya is ready, my husband send her off and he bought breakfast...I am hungry and I have to eat before going to the hospital! Hehe. I know I will definitely be warded as I had Prelabour Rupture of Membrane (in layman terms...the waterbag broke). I checked all the already packed bags for delivery needs and after we ate breakfast, we headed to the hospital at around 8.30 am.

At the labour room, while CTG was done..one young house officer came to clerk me. Then the more senior female HO came and asked him to do examination...ooo I don't want to be checked by male, so I kindly told her that. She don't mind..maybe coz she knows I'm a doctor? No la, I think she really don't mind :) I hate it when vaginal examination had to be done..huhu all mothers must know what I mean. Yeah, the examination confirms I had PROM...so have to be admitted. While I lie on the bed waiting for my CTG to be done, I heard a doctor told the patient beside me that she has to go to Hospital Serdang or HKL because the bed is full at Hosp. Putrajaya. She must be in early labour, or else they have to admit her...pity her. For your information, this is not an unusual scenario at Hospital Putrajaya. They don't have many beds, so if it's not an emergency, you have to go to other hospital. But if you are under FPP, there will always be a bed reserved for you.

So, after all is settled for my admission, I was wheeled to the ward. When my husband and I reached the ward...we were like...wow, this is really nice..better than in some private hospital :)

The Executive Ward for FPP patients

Let's go inside my room.....

TV and mini fridge in each room

The chair where my husband patiently wait for me :)
Later, I was informed that Dr. Hamidah, who I chose to be my obstetrician was on leave that day and a male specialist will substitute her. I was sad, I was really hoping for a female doctor :( The specialist Dr. Hazim came for his ward consultation, explaining his plan of management if my baby refuse to come out in the next 24 hours. He turned out to be a nice and friendly doctor.

Hours passed but I still felt no contraction. If my baby is still not delivered, then I'll have to be induced next morning. I just prayed I won't need an induction of labour as I heard prostin induction is painful...huhuhu. My contractions were very little, it comes and goes....and I'm just resting in the ward, watching TV, praying, have a walk around the hospital....quite boring.hehe.

The next day, after CTG was done, prostin was inserted. I felt some contractions few hours later but it was still mild and infrequent. Later around 2.30 pm, the specialist came to review me. My contractions that time was mild but more frequent (2-3:10). Os 3 cm, membrane absent. My CTG was not so great, got early decelaration...I was sent to labour room for augmentation and delivery. Epidural was inserted. After the bolus dose, I felt itchiness from my waist downwards...there was no rash, just very itchy...I've never felt like this with epidural during my first delivery. The anaesthetist explained it was due to nerve root irritation and will resolve later. Other than that, my epidural works in reducing the labour pain. Around 5 pm, Dr. Hazim came and said Dr. Hamidah will take over frm there. She's actually on-call that day and just came back frm her kampung. Well, it looks like my baby wants to wait for her after all :)

True enough, few minutes later Dr. Hamidah came and alhamdulillah, my os progressed to 6 cm. Around 8 pm, my os was full and it's time to push the baby out. My husband, who just came back frm Maghrib prayer, was asked to witness the birth of our second baby...alhamdulillah, Aina Maisarah was born at 8.17 pm...I can't described the feeling when my baby was put on my stomach when Dr. Hamidah cut the cord...so happy and touched at the same time :)

My princess @ day 1 of life
The next day I was discharged from the hospital with my new baby. The total hospital bill? RM19++.....quite cheap I think as I took epidural plus the medication for induction. Overall, the service was good, staff nurse and house officers were nice to me. Dr. Hamidah is gentle, calm and did her work professionally. So, if any of you plan to deliver your baby with service like in a private hospital but at a lower price, I would suggest you to try this FPP scheme.

Thank you very much to my husband who was with me all the time during the labour process and helped me during the confinement. You are the best and I'm very thankful to get a husband like you. Not forgetting to my loving family..mom, dad and of course my bro for taking care of me and my daughters...your sacrifice and help is truly appreciated and can only be repaid by Him.

38 Weeks.....Counting the Days...

I went for my antenatal TCA yesterday evening. Alhamdulillah, my baby is growing well, just that my weight reduced about 350g...haha. Dr. Hamidah, my obstetrician said my baby is not engaged yet, seems like she does not want to come into the world yet. However, that is normal in a gravida 2 para 1 like me, where the baby will only be engaged during labour. I thought I felt my baby has come down as I feel pressure at my pelvic bone and started to get leg swelling.

All things for my admission to hospital in case I go into labour are ready. 1 bag for my items, 1 bag for the newborn baby stuff and another 1 bag for my daughter's items. I felt relieved as our house finally looks and feel like a home now without boxes and things not sorted out yet...still got few boxes at the back room though which contained not so important stuff :) Also few things that I felt needed to be changed anew...don't know if they can be done before my delivery or not...hmm, what say you, mr. hubby?

My husband and I are in the process of looking for a maid to take care of this baby (plus my daughter and the household chores). I really feel I need a maid now because my husband frequently goes outstation. At least, I have someone with me that I can get help from in case anything happens. If anyone knows or would like to work with us, don't be shy to contact me. We prefer to get maid originated from Malaysia, but I know that would be quite impossible..huhu.

I hope my decision to deliver my child at Hospital Putrajaya under the Full Paying Patient scheme (like private wing) is the right choice. Quite a number of private medical centres and maternity centres we surveyed, but I just felt a bit unsafe to go to a private hospital. I have more trust in government hospital...because I know the management in private hospital is different than in the government hospital...private hospital also do not have the basic and important facilities eg blood bank and enough doctors. As I am working at MOH, I received lots of maternal mortality cases from private hospitals that are actually preventable.....very scaryy!! Some of the cases, the management is totally different from what us doctors learnt in medical school and it's very frightening how they (specialists) can get their certificate to practice like that. Moreover, I think the treatment charges at FPP Hospital Putrajaya is reasonable, unlike other private centres. What is important, I want my delivery to be conducted by a Muslim female doctor safely....amin.

New Year Outing

How do you celebrate your new year? Did you go to a celebration countdown? Or just stay home with your family, like me?

A day before new year, I got an unexpected phone call from a staff at Hospital Seri Manjung, saying I've got the promotion letter from UD44 to UD48. Alhamdulillah....a great start for a new year and a special gift for my family :) So, to celebrate my promotion (even though I didn't get the backdated money or the supposed salary yet..hehe) I treat my family and my brother (too bad my mom and dad are at Perak) with a meal at Madam Lim's Kitchen Restaurant at AEON AU2 Setiawangsa...I want to go shopping also, of course..hihi.

My lovely daughter is a big girl already, and like to pose for pictures! Heheh....

With her uncle....aka my brother...she's excited to see him...........

OK....let's EATTT!!! It's my first time eating at the restaurant and I found the food is delicious! We ate white rice, mix vegetable soup, Grouper fish fried with sambal (very, very nice) and prawns sambal petai.....yummy!

After our hearty meal, I went shopping...a therapy for me during this second pregnancy :P I bought a handbag, maternity clothes and nursing attire...spent RM few hundreds at Jusco while my husband entertain my daughter at Funland as usual :)

Landlord? :)

Alhamdulillah...I officially got a new title...a 'Landlord' :) I have posted in this blog few months ago that I have a house in Manjung, Perak that we didn't get to stay in yet (home sweet home manjung). The house now has got its tenant. I didn't advertise or anything, not even hang a signage in front of the house...but somehow houses at that area is like hot selling pisang goreng panas as Malays would say :) Hmm, not bad I can say the demand for houses at Manjung. Now, I only need to pay RM114 every month to top up for the payment of the house loan. I feel relieved as I don't have on-call claims anymore since I'm working at MOH :)

I really hope that the tenant will take good care of the house. He seems ok, I guess....going to get married in few months time so he will be staying there with his future wife. At least, I don't have to be worried about kids doodling at the wall of the house..hehe. What is more convenient, his company is going to pay for the house rent. Therefore, should be no problem for me to get the pay rent on time or not getting the rent money at all....hopefully. After I deliver my second child, I hope I can go to Seri Manjung to see the house.
