Bandung Holiday...Part 2 : Food!

Now, let's talk about everyone's fave topic : food! Where are the nice places to eat and what local delicacies you must try at Bandung? Let's follow me...

We had our first dinner at Lisung Cafe & restaurant at The Valley...yes, it's on top of a hill. Actually, there are many other restaurants and cafe to choose from at the hill. Here, you can get magnificent view of Bandung city at night.  The cafe is an open concept and you'll be enjoying your meal with cool breeze blowing on your face and the sparkling lights scenery of the city......
The actual view is more beautiful than in the picture.  My Sony Cybershot failed to capture it :)

According to our tourist guide, people like to eat here not because of the food, but to savour the beautiful scenery :) We ate Nasi Liwet. For me, the food is good. Quite sumptuous for 2 person...coconut rice, ayam kampung, tauhu, crackers, salted fish, fresh ulam-ulam & salad...hmm kenyang! We also had 'Tofu Soup' for Aliya. Guess how much all these plus 3 drinks? Only Rp175,000 (around RM58).

On the second day, we had lunch at Kampung Daun Culture Gallery & Cafe. Definitely the most beautiful restaurant I've been so far! Here, you eat in the nature in nicely built huts....it's so refreshing and calming with all the green trees and clean, fresh mountain air.

Let's enjoy the great scenery here....

This is the hut where you'll be enjoying your meal..

A breathtaking 'natural' waterfall

Aliya loves the fish pond

Our lunch dishes are......
Nasi Campur Sunda
Soto Kudus with white rice

Kampung Daun Sling

The price? All these plus Soto Betawi with 2 more drinks for only RM60 :-)

The second night in Bandung we ate at a restaurant near our hotel....Restoran Sangkuriang. On the outside, the restaurant might looked simple, but inside....it's a bit similar like Kampung Daun as you can choose to eat in the huts....more privacy :)

Sitting "bersila" in the eating hut
The food was marvelous! We had Sup Buntut (called sup ekor in Malaysia), kangkung hotplate and ikan gerume bakar....The ikan bakar was very nice!

We also managed to try Nasi Padang Minang....Bandung style, at Simpang Raya Restaurant..
Mouth watering, rite? Too many dishes? Hihi....the waiter will place all the dishes on your table and you choose which one you want to eat. You only pay for what you ate :) We had daging dendeng, ayam pop, begedil, sambal, ulam-ulaman and curry vegetable. We spent about RM30 here.

Mi Jawa is famous here
The last dish we try at Bandung was Mi Jawa. It is the first time I ate it and I love it! The taste is not like other type of mee dishes we have in Malaysia. This is a must try dish! Actually, mi jawa originate from Jakarta, not Bandung.

They cooked with charcoal! Really old fashioned....not using gas hub like we normally do. Maybe that's what makes it taste so good and different? Hehehe.....
Chef in action

Aliya loves the Liang Tea

Mi Jawa
There you go....some of the restaurants I was able to go to during 4 days in Bandung.Generally, the food are cheaper compared to the food in Malaysia and the vegetables are really fresh! The food is quite similar, just with slight different taste.

Bandung Holiday...Part 1 : Shopping!

Assalamualaikum and hello all readers! My lovely husband gave me the best birthday present ever....a trip to Bandung @ Paris van Java :) (an early birthday present, actually - my birthday is on 19th Feb,people! Take note!hehe). We went there from 1st till 5th of  February by Air Asia...my husband got cheap tickets during its promotion.

We stayed at Marciella Hotel in Bandung...really comfy bed!Love the bedsheet!

The Deluxe hotel room....
The first day agenda is SHOPPING! Hehehe...I know many of you girls like this one! Bandung is definitely a shopping heaven...let's see where to shop at Bandung...

For a start, we went to the Factory Outlets....there are sooo many outlets here to choose from...
The most expensive outlet, Rumah Mode is the first factory outlet in Bandung. Rumah Mode is beautifully landscaped. The upper class ones usually shops here. You even have to pay before enter, unlike other outlets where the parking is free. TIPS : Don't shop here because the price here is about rp30,000 (RM10) more expensive than other outlets. Believe me, the clothes are the same..it's expensive because it's popular. Just stop by here to take pictures, like I did!
You can see all the outlets/shops here are built like big houses, each with its own designs....
Among other fashion outlets are....

This is my favourite fashion outlet...Central Branded Outlet...lots of nice and reasonable branded kids clothes!

Next shopping place is of course, Pasar Baru. This place is similar to Pasar Siti Khadijah at Kelantan. You can find everything here....ready made clothes, batik clothes, telekung, Bandung t-shirts, 'kain pasang', jubah and many more. As Malay would say, you'll become "rambang mata" here...hehe. TIPS : Just bring lots of money and brushen up your bargaining skills!

There are EIGHT FLOORS of shops at Pasar Baru for you to explore..the 'telekung' here are very nice and all the items are cheaper compared in Malaysia. I definitely can spend an entire day or more shopping at Pasar Baru! :-)

For all jean lovers out there, Toko Tiga is a must visit place! Here, many branded jeans and shirts like Levi's,Burberry,Hugo Boss are sold at lower prices!

For example, Levi's jeans you can get for about RM100 after discount! If no discount, you can get a Levi's jeans at RM130-RM180...cheaper compared in Malaysia, rite? You can also get the original jeans cutting service here for Rp.10,000 (around RM3 only).

I love the interior decorations at Toko Tiga...creative and gives you a fresh greenery feelings with a lovely fish pond and birds...so that your little ones won't feel bored :)

If you are into handbags or purses, you can head to Jalan Riau...there is "Terminal Tas Tangan" with lots of branded bags.

Well, there you go about where and what to shop at Bandung. Next entry, I'll tell you where and what to eat at Bandung....sounds yummy, right!

Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan....LAMAN GRILL, STEAK and BAR-B-QUE....

As I've promised before, my entry this time is about our quest in tasting superb food...hehe. After watching an episode in Masterchef Malaysia that showed a restaurant owned by one of the judges, Chef Zubir, I really wanna try the dishes there. So we went to Seksyen 13, Shah Alam and found the restaurant.....Laman Grill, Steak, and Bar-B-Que situated at Laman Seri Business Park.

The interior decoration of the restaurant is exclusive and elegant....with photos, certificates and newspaper clippings of Chef Zubir achievements. You can see the chefs (student, I think) cooking in the modern and very clean kitchen at the back of the restaurant

My husband happily posing with background of Chef Zubir's achievements in culinary

Variety of western dishes and sweet dessert are offered here and both of us chose the chef's recommendation dishes : mine is Grilled Salmon Mediterranean..bla..bla (too long la the name, can't remember)
It is decorated beautifully that I felt 'sayangnya nak makan'....hehe

while my hubby chose Grilled Chicken Chop...

Our little princess, Aliya Nuha ate the crackers... :P

How did the food taste like? My grilled salmon was cooked perfectly...no 'hanyir' taste and it tasted delicious. The best salmon dish I've ate so far...

The price is reasonable...not pricey like at Victoria Station or TGI Friday. The salmon is RM29.50 and the grilled chicken chop is RM25.50....very reasonable considering it's a chef's recipe plus the wonderful food presentation. I'll definitely go there again if I'm in Shah Alam and next time I want to try the steak :)

A Day Out...Celebrating My Husband's Birthday

Late entry actually...during last christmas day long weekend, we went to Kuala Lumpur. Main purpose: to attend my friend's wedding ceremony and go sightseeing of course...a bit bored with Manjung..hihi.

Dr. Ain, ex-HO at Hosp Seri Manjung..she looks slim and beautiful...yup, she is wearing the Premium Beautiful corset! :)

Initially, I wanna buy birthday present for my husband, but suddenly he told me he just want to go to Aquaria and asked me to save the money for later on...sweet, isn't he? Since it's school holiday time, the place was packed with families with children. We have to line-up in a loooongg queue and it took about an hour to get the ticket. My daughter also is getting tired and grumpy by the time we can get inside.

She is not in a good mood and don't want to take pictures with me..huhu. Aliya is excited to see all the animals there especially the variety of fishes and keep saying, "ikan...ikann...wahh" :)

The biggest fishes in Aquaria are.............

OK....next entry will be about foooodd! We manage to find a famous chef restaurant in Shah Alam....all for my lovely husband :)
